“I had Stephanie and the Staff of The Working Kitchen help me design and install a kitchen in my new home. I had gone into the project asking for every bell and whistle. When I received the quote it was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend, so I spoke to Stephanie and she helped me figure out how to meet my budget without any compromise. I am so happy and everything looks beautiful. They were professional, knowledgeable and were over all fabulous. I would only use The Working Kitchen for any future kitchen or bath needs.”

“The Working Kitchen did an absolutely fantastic job of helping us lay out a modern kitchen in a 200-year-old federal style house. Although the space available was large, we imposed several serious constraints in order to use what was originally servants’ quarters and a butler’s pantry to preserve other aspects of the house’s original floor plan. Stephanie Holmes, the owner of The Working Kitchen, incorporated our wish list and gave us a number of alternatives that led to a very functional design for cooking, informal congregating and providing easy service to the dining room. After the layout was completed, Stephanie worked with us on selecting appliances, designing the custom cabinetry, positioning the lighting and making sure it all fit together perfectly. She helped us through the numerous small decisions that are needed in a project like this and made sure all of the components were ready on time. The design and attention to details were equal to what you can normally find only in major cities. The reaction of everyone who walks into our kitchen is “Wow!” We can enthusiastically recommend The Working Kitchen.”

“Stephanie Holmes of The Working Kitchen has designed all kitchens, bathrooms and laundry facilities in 3 different homes for me in the last 4 years. As you can imagine, selecting materials for 3 different homes in 4 years can be quite a daunting project. Stephanie is hard working, professional and a very pleasant woman to work with. Her knowledge of her products is outstanding and she made the process quite a lot of fun!”

“We purchased a home 20+ which was built in 1810. After gutting the whole house, we began restoring it During our process to restore the home back to the original look, we tore off the kitchen and moved it to a new addition that we put on the house. I do a LOT of baking and cooking and the kitchen was never finished. A couple of years ago, we decided to remove what we had put in and install a new kitchen and update our bathroom. We worked with Stephanie, owner of The Working Kitchen and came up with a great layout that made the kitchen user-friendly while keeping “feel” of a home built in 1810. This included new kitchen cupboards, a new range, dishwasher and fridge. I drew the design that I wanted for the area behind the range and Stephanie used her knowledge and sources to make it happen. The kitchen now has a pull-out shelf for my Kitchen Aid mixer, beautiful pull-out spice racks on each side of our 6-burner Wolf range, a pull-out Rev-A-Shelf to efficiently use the corner in the kitchen instead of a lazy-susan, the Bosch dishwasher and Jenn-air fridge are concealed behind false doors that match the cabinetry. We put in a special area that has now become our “coffee station” and installed Cambria Quartz counters which are durable, care-free and beautiful. We had our carpenter put wide pine plank flooring put down throughout the house and tile the floors in the bathroom and the mudroom. We painted the walls using Benjamin Moore Historic colors and did the backsplash in handmade brick tile. Stephanie has sent other prospective customers to see our beautiful, work-friendly kitchen and it convinced them, she was the person they needed to aid them in their decisions to update their kitchen. Stephanie was great to work with in helping us make our kitchen into a real “Working Kitchen”

“I cannot say enough good things about Stephanie Holmes and The Working Kitchen. It is a pleasure to work with Stephanie; she has wonderful taste, great ideas, and an excellent inventory. Stephanie designed the large kitchen for a house we built in Cooperstown, New York in 2009. Building the house was very stressful, but creating the kitchen was a pleasure. It is truly a dream kitchen and the gathering place for our family. It is perfect and exactly what we wanted. Last fall, when we moved from one apartment to another in Manhattan, we asked Stephanie to design our new very small kitchen. It is stunning–very sleek and sophisticated and the envy of all our friends even though it is a small postwar NYC kitchen. Stephanie has also supplied the cabinetry, flooring and tiles for our new apartment. Bravo Stephanie. Angela P-W, New York City and Cooperstown”

“My husband and I totally renovated my family’s farmhouse. We were referred to Stephanie by another professional who already had a working relationship with her. Everything worked out perfectly! I had pictures from magazines to relay to Stephanie what I envisioned. Considering our budget, Stephanie made suggestions to help us cut the cost but not forfeit the look. She was patient and took the time needed to deliver a product that was exactly what we had hoped for. She was hands-on both at our house and at her office. She was genuinely concerned for our complete satisfaction with the end product. My husband picks on me because there is hardly a day that goes by that he does not hear me say “I LOVE my kitchen”! The full house renovation was stressful but Stephanie had a way of making the kitchen remodel easy. There could not be anyone better to work with.”

“Barely a day goes by that I don’t say “I love my kitchen” Stephanie from the Working Kitchen Ltd. was an ace when it came to designing a kitchen that really works for me. I am fairly short and have never had a kitchen that was comfortable. I wanted to open cabinets doors and have my dishes right in front of me not over my head. My husband needs coffee all day long but I don’t like to look at all the paraphernalia on the counter. We have a trolley that rolls into a space and then I shut a garage door, so to speak. The island is a dark burgundy which is a lovely contrast to the cream colored cabinets. There is so much clever storage in the island and in other places. My favorite is the pull out drawers for my pots and pans and my waist level cabinet double doors. We did not have a huge space for her to work with but Stephanie pulled it together beautifully.”

“Provided the design and details for a renovation of a 100 year old kitchen while maintaining the historical integrity of the home. Was always available and responsive to the concerns of the homeowner and the contractor. Worked within the limitations of a large-scale project (with a budget of $75,000.00) with creative suggestions. Professional with a personal touch!”

“When my wife and I decided to move to Oneonta from Brooklyn, we hired Stephanie to design a new kitchen and bathroom in our 100-year old house. The process was a pleasure from beginning to end. Stephanie took a great deal of time to understand our needs and translate them to the confines of the house we had bought. She was always available to answer questions or to meet with us, even on weekends. Her design sense was excellent and her taste was impeccable. As important, her technical skills were superb, and there were no problems installing any of the custom cabinets or appliances that we selected with her. The cabinets are superb, as is the Wolf range. Where her suggestions departed from what we had anticipated, the results show that she was correct every time. She put us in touch with a number of extraordinary craftsmen, contractors, and suppliers, and worked seamlessly with them throughout the renovation. We are thrilled with the results and recommend Stephanie and the Working Kitchen without any hesitation or reservations.”
